This is an awesome project to build a 9′ community table and bench for Cibo Famiglia restaurant in Twain Harte. Mark, Charlene and Josh (Owners and Chef) have been very receptive to my ideas to use entirely reclaimed and seriously distressed materials, mixing local steel and wood.
We’ve even used the boards from a burned redwood water tank, featuring the burned ends as an aesthetic feature of the table. The top is inlaid with cross-sections of red cedar, cut with a chainsaw on my property.
The base is made from two old trailer frames that were found rusting in the undergrowth on my neighbor’s property. The frames were cut up and recycled in their entirety to make the structure of the base.
